“Lest we Forget” On May 6, 2023, Volunteers of The Greater Syracuse Detachment 224, Marine Corps League (MCL) joined forces with Volunteers of the VFW CLAY POST 951 for the placement of US Flags at the gravestones of veterans interred at the Pine Plains Cemetery.
For the past 50 years this project has been routinely completed, annually, by one individual Veteran Glen SOTHERDEN, VFW Post 951. The Greater Syracuse Detachment 224, Marine Corps League would like to salute Veteran Sotherden’s longevity and dedication to this extremely worthy project.
When Veteran Sotherden stated that after 50 years he would like to have some assistance, members of the VFW Post 951 and The Syracuse Detachment, Marine Corps League were proud to volunteer and provide that assistance.
I would like to say Thank You, to each of the Volunteers of the VFW Post 951 and the Volunteers of the Greater Syracuse Detachment 224, MCL as your actions of volunteering displays to the public, the Americanism and Patriotism, that we as American Service Members have sworn to uphold. Again, I would like to Thank Veteran Glen SOTHERDEN and the VFW Clay Post 951 for inviting the Greater Syracuse Detachment 224, Marine Corps League to be part of this worthy project.
Larry G Bear, PhD Commandant, Greater Syracuse Detachment 224, MCL USMC, 1SG US Army Retired
